So I wanted a Citroen GS and spent almost 2 years looking in France.
I noticed that Holland was closer to the shipping port so I started looking there.
Sure enough, I found one
Here it is hanging out in Rotterdam
Here's Peter the Dutch owner tuning it before he sent it to California
Leaving Holland & heading for the boat:
An interesting design, an air cooled flat four.
Kinda like a French Karmann Ghia
Speaking of French, here's the hometown website & forum:
http://www.gs-gsa.org/index.php
Finally it arrives.
3 months later, lots of paperwork & I'm driving it.
First thing I do is change the oil & repair the clock.
Nicely made little clock.
I finally got it running but now it's a bit fast.
Oh well.
At least the hands move & it makes a cool ticking sound.
Installed
Here's the car at home in Berkeley:
Next on the list, replace the manky carpets:
New padding first:
Coming along:
Much better!
Next the trunk:
Padded & refinished.
Didn't like the rusty wheels
Cleaned & painted
& balanced
Well, the motor smoked a bit & that was unacceptable.
Engine out
& apart
& further apart
A nice valve job on the heads & new rings
going together
Lotsa parts
Don't forget to rebuild the starter
& balance the clutch & flywheel
Going together some more
Assembled & running.
A nice little car
